Western Massachusetts’ baseball players are invited to take part in free summer baseball clinics at The Swamp in Longmeadow. Some of the sessions will feature Chris Corkum of Corkum’s Baseball and Tom Walbridge of Luckbridge Sports. Corkum is a semi- pro baseball player and has been providing youth baseball training for 28 years. Walbridge is a Longmeadow resident and owner of Luckbridge Sports, which provides coaching to local athletes.
Athletes will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of baseball and will play games during the clinics. Little leaguers can sign up for one session or all twelve. The clinics are offered by the Longmeadow Little League and are made possible by two main sponsors, Welch & Vallera Family Dentistry and Yanni Orthodontics of West Springfield.
Dr.Vallera and Dr.Yanni both live in Longmeadow and are excited to be able to give this opportunity to local athletes. “For a lot of young athletes they only have the chance to play during their regular baseball season, and we know how important it is to practice and learn new skills beyond that time frame, says Joann Vallera. “ By teaming up with Chris Corkum and Tom Walbridge, we wanted to offer a top notch training clinic for our young athletes so they can take these skills and bring them to the field next season.”
In addition to the program, canned goods will be collected at each session and donated to the Open Pantry.
